League Placement - Bronze Rank 4

I completed my first 3 competitive matches ever today, losing the first two but scoring a win on the third to place at Rank 4 Bronze.

Looking over my first two matches, i realized that I was failing as I was neglecting my worker production in favor of microing my army. So for the last game i focused on building my economy and getting those fast expansions while trying to spend all my money:

Luckily for me, I probe-scouted his base early on and noticed the Spire being built, so quickly warped in a Forge and some Photon Cannons around my mineral line expecting a Mutalisk rush, and began pumping out Stalkers while fortifying my Natural expansion.

Carefully targetting the Mutalisk's one by one, i was able to repel his attack until his Mutalisks reached critical mass and the photon cannons could no longer hold them off, causing him to destroy my Main.

Just before this point I moved all my probes off to a hidden gold expansion near his base with 4 proxy gates and went for an All-In Stalker counter wiping out his Mutalisks and Drones and drawing out the GG.

I learnt two things from this game, keep up the Macro, and be unexpected!

Bronze2GM Introduction

Hello, I am Feniks of BRONZE2GM.

I first played Warcraft when i was just 5 years old in 1994. So when Starcraft rolled around 4 years later, I was hooked. I fell in love with the sitting and would continue to play Starcraft and its successors right through to the current day.

I loved the campaigns, which i have played through numerous times, and really enjoyed playing the Custom Games on Battle.Net, the various RPGs, Turret Defence and my biggest pastime, Obstacle Courses (particularly Cipher's map series).

But unfortunately i never find myself getting into the melee side of Starcraft, having played other RTS games like Command and Conquer, i was used to turtling my bases and continuously being rushed put me off. As i progressed further into Starcraft 2, i started to dabble in unranked matches, but without any tutorials or guides to the meta, I never won a match.

Now however, after watching endless esports matches of Starcraft 2, I have decided to make the jump and enter into competitive play.

In this blog series, I hope to share my journey from Bronze to Grandmaster, providing tutorials along the way for other budding gamers who want to break into competitive Starcraft, and really share the lessons I learn as I make my progress.

For this series, I will be focusing entirely on Protoss, as this is the race that has always appealed to me since I first played as Fenix in the Protoss campaign of Starcraft 1.

Thats all for now, Wish me luck!
